Tekirdağ

Tekirdağ is a province of Turkey and the twenty-third most populous city. By 2016, it has a population of 972,875. It is located near Trakya of Marmara Region; It is surrounded by Istanbul in the east, Marmara Sea and Canakkale in the south, Edirne in the west, Kırklareli in the north and Black Sea in the north. 14 provinces with a population of 750,000 in 2012 are among the 30 big cities of Turkey since they have gained the status of a city with the law passed in the Turkish Grand National Assembly. After the local elections held on March 30, 2014, it officially began to be governed by the metropolitan municipality; The service area is all the provincial borders as 6.313 square kilometers. 3 new districts were established with this law. These; Suleymanpaşa, Covered and Ergenenir. With these districts, the total number of districts is eleven.

Marmara Bölgesi'nin Trakya yakasında bulunur; doğuda İstanbul, güneyde Marmara Denizi ve Çanakkale, batıda Edirne, kuzeyde Kırklareli ve kuzeydoğuda Karadeniz ile çevrilidir. 2012 yılında nüfusu 750.000'i geçen 14 adet il TBMM'de kabul edilen kanun ile büyükşehir statüsü kazandığı için Türkiye'nin 30 büyükşehrinden biridir. 30 Mart 2014'te yapılan yerel seçimlerin ardından resmen büyükşehir belediyeciliği ile yönetilmeye başlamış; hizmet sahası 6.313 kilometrekare olarak tüm il sınırlarıdır. Bu kanunla 3 adet yeni ilçe kurulmuştur. Bunlar; Süleymanpaşa, Kapaklı ve Ergenedir. Bu ilçelerle birlikte toplam ilçe sayısı on birdir.
